Beware: The James River Scramble is not your typical Saturday stroll in the park. Along the course you may encounter roots, gravel, rough terrain, and low-hanging branches. Up for the challenge? You'll get to experience firsthand some of RVA's best outdoor gems including the Canal Walk, the James River Park System, Belle Isle and the Floodwall. This is not a race for walkers.

SIGN UP ONLINE through 8:30 a.m. on May 19.

On site registration is located in the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar courtyard during the following times:

Friday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 
Saturday, May 20 beginning at 8 a.m.

Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

CHALLENGES:
Want to add some extra tests to your Dominion Energy Riverrock experience try out one of our challenges!  The James River Scramble is piece of three different challenges:
  1.  Trail Takedown (James River Scramble + Bust the Banks Half Marathon)
  2.  Ultimate Trail Trio (Belle Isle Blitz + James River Scramble + Bust the Banks Half Marathon)
  3.  River Rumble (James River Scramble + Sierra Nevada Down River Paddle + Urban Assault Mountain Bike Race-20mile)

Packet Pick Up:

Packet Pick-up is in the American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar courtyard during the following times:

Friday, May 19 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, May 20 beginning at 7:30 a.m. 

When you arrive at the registration tent, find your name on the bulletin board to learn your race number (or you can look it up in advance here). Then visit the table corresponding to your number and you will receive your t-shirt and bib. Then you’re ready to race! Please note that a photo ID is required to pick up your packet (not required for minors without IDs). You may pick up someone else's packet for them provided you have a photocopy of their picture ID.

Age Requirements:

All participants must be at least 7 years old to participate.

Waves:

The James River Scramble utilizes wave starts in order to control volume on the trails.  At the start of the race you will line up with the sign that matches your predicted pace per mile.

Rules:

  • Consumption of alcohol before the event is PROHIBITED
